Are you ready for the solar eclipse next week? If you’re in Houston, you can clear your calendars for Monday, August 21, from around 12:30pm to 1:30pm.

And while you might find solar filter lenses and other tools to allow you to look directly at the sun, you should also train your eyes on the scene around you. Specifically get to some trees.

The principal behind the pinhole camera works just as well as sunlight filters through leafy trees, and the effect is AMAZING! Thousands of crescent dapples all over the ground, bringing this rare celestial event to shimmer and dance at your feet.
