Skyline Art Services is proud of our work for Choctaw Nation Health Services, where we are challenged to honor and Choctaw tradition and history while also recognizing that the healthcare system values medical innovation and advances in care and community health.

So we were interested to hear this interview with Choctaw singer/songwriter Samantha Crain. Samantha is singing in Choctaw for the first time on her new record “You Had Me at Goodbye.” But the songs are not bound by tradition.

She says writing in Choctaw was an emotional experience:

So many of the traditional Choctaw songs have been lost…. [By writing and singing new songs] I’m wanting to inspire other native artists to be creating their own new traditions to keep the culture and heritage alive.

Congratulations Samantha Crain on the new record! Let us know if you ever come down to Texas to perform.
